Audubon Nature Reserve

Visitor Guide

The Audubon Nature Reserve offers trails for visitors to enjoy as shown on the map on the other side of this guide. Whether watching birds, walking your dog, fitness hiking, or looking at the many varieties of plants and flowers, there’s something for everyone. This seven-acre gem is located in West Salem at 480 Eola Drive NW. For information on current activities visit Salem Audubon Nature Reserve - Home | Facebook.

The Nature Reserve provides valuable habitat to many species of birds and pollinators such as bees and butterflies. Every year, two Ospreys build a nest and raise their young on a platform visible from the parking lot (pictured right). Through partnerships with local schools, the Reserve provides hands-on experience for students to learn outdoor skills such as working together to spread wood chips on the trails.

The Reserve is open from dawn to dusk. For the benefit of all visitors, we ask that you follow the guidelines below.

  • Pick up after your pet

Volunteer Opportunities

The Reserve property is maintained by dedicated volunteers. Through the years, volunteers have cleared blackberries and other invasive plants from the property, built trails, planted new species of plants, and put up bird boxes. If you are interested in helping to maintain this beautiful resource, contact the Salem Audubon Society at (503)-364-9325.
